The HollandZorg health insurance card also serves as
a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The EHIC entitles you to reimbursement of the costs for urgent medical care during your temporary stay abroad. It makes it easier for you to obtain medical assistance and facilitates the administrative settlement thereof.
Please note: in order to be insured for healthcare costs in your country of residence, you must complete an 'E106 form'.
EHIC
The European Health Insurance Card is valid in EU, EEA and treaty countries. They include:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Cyprus (Greek part), Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (including Guadeloupe, French Guyana, Martinique, Reunion, St. Pierre and Miquelon), Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain (including Ceuta and Melilla), Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (including Gibraltar).
When you are staying in one of these countries, this card will entitle you to reimbursement of the costs for urgent medical care, subject to the same conditions that apply to the residents of that country. The EHIC does not cover the costs for trips abroad with the intention of undergoing medical treatment there.
Co-insured family members
Co-insured family members can also use a European Health Insurance Card. They can apply for one from the CVZ. Please be aware that it takes at least 5 working days to produce such a card.
