Temporary work in the Netherlands

Health insurance usually compulsory
When you reside or work (temporary) in the Netherlands, you are usually obliged to take out healthcare insurance in the Netherlands.  Are you for temporay work in the Netherlands? Even then, you are usually obliged to take out Dutch health insurance.

Are you staying or residing in the Netherlands?

You can only live in one country at a time. When you reside in the Netherlands, your ties with that country are stronger than those with your country of origin. For example: you reside in the Netherlands if your family lives here too. You are staying in the Netherlands when you are here only to work. In that case, your country of residence is your country of origin.

Staying and working in the Netherlands

If you are just here to work for a Dutch employer, you are obliged to take out health insurance. This can be done through your employer, but you can also take out your own health insurance with a Dutch healthcare insurer. HollandZorg Public is a good choice in that respect. In addition to the compulsory public healthcare insurance, you can take out our supplementary HollandZorg Insurance for additional reimbursements.

Do your family members reside in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland? Then it may be possible to have them co-insured.
