Health spa

At a health spa you can get a course of treatment. This treatment comprises having a bath in thermal water, active remedial therapy and relaxation.


When do you qualify for reimbursement?

You are entitled to reimbursement if you suffer from a serious form of:

  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • Bechterew’s syndrome, or
  • psoriatic arthritis

You require prior permission from us for reimbursement of the accommodation and the treatments.

Referral required for accommodation and treatments

You must have a referral from your rheumatologist or GP following confirmation of the diagnosis by the rheumatologist.

Reimbursement health spa

By virtue of the Plus and Top supplementary insurances, you are entitled to reimbursement of accommodation and the treatments taken at a health spa up to a maximum of 21 days per calendar year:

The reimbursement only applies to the costs of overnight stays and the courses of treatment. The reimbursement does not apply to:

  • transport from, to and during the stay;
  • food and drink while travelling and during the stay;
  • all other costs.

Personal contribution

We reimburse 75% of the costs, subject to a maximum amount per year. The remainder is payable by you.

No excess

Reimbursements under the supplementary insurances are not subject to an excess.

Who can you go to?

For accommodation and treatments, you can go to the following care providers:

In the Netherlands:

  • Fontana Nieuweschans;
  • Thermaalbad Arcen.


  • Slovakia: Piestany;
  • Austria: Bad Hofgastein;
  • Germany: Bad Bentheim, Bad Pyrmont, Drilburg (Caspar Heinrich clinic);
  • if the stay has been organised by one of the organisations affiliated to the Dutch Sector Association for Adapted Holidays (Nederlandse Branchevereniging Aangepaste Vakanties (NBAV)).

If you want to go to a different health spa, you need our prior written consent.

Apply for consent

You require written permission from us for reimbursement of the accommodation and the treatments before the stay and the care start. You must enclose a copy of the referral from your rheumatologist or GP with your request. Send your request for consent to:
