GP services, obstetric care and dental care up to the age of 18 are included in the public health insurance. And children under 18 are insured free of charge. Choose Compact: extra certainty for just € 3,75 a month

For additional healthcare, choose a supplementary insurance. Because what happens if you suddenly get toothache or need physiotherapy for an injury? Then it’s good to know that this care is included. The Compact supplementary insurance reimburses:

Emergency dental care up to € 200 per year.
3 physiotherapy or remedial therapy sessions per year. Didn’t need those services? Then you can take the treatments to the next year.
Personal contribution for medicines.
The costs for returning to your country of origin if this is medically necessary or in the case of death.

Do you want more certainty and therefore additional reimbursement for alternative care, glasses and lenses or extra physiotherapy treatments, for example? HollandZorg has several types of supplementary insurance to choose from. You can also insure dental care, such as check-ups, fillings or crowns. Choose one of the HollandZorg dental insurances. The dental insurance also includes orthodontics (braces) for people under 18.

Frequently asked questions

What does the HollandZorg public health insurance cover?

HollandZorg public health insurance is a combined policy, in which most care is reimbursed in kind. That means that you receive 100% reimbursement if your care provider has a contract with us. If your care provider does not have a contract with us, you will receive 75% of the average rate that we reimburse care providers with a contract. For district nursing, 70% of the NZA rate applies.

For physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, reimbursement is based on restitution. That means that you are entitled to reimbursement of the costs of this care and that you are not bound by the care providers with whom we have a contract.

For reimbursements relating to the public health insurance, you usually need to pay a compulsory excess. This amount is determined by the government and applies to all care providers in the Netherlands.

Why do you pay a compulsory excess?

For healthcare covered by the public health insurance, you pay the first € 385 yourself. We call this the compulsory excess. Each year, the government determines the amount of the compulsory excess. This is therefore the same for everyone in the Netherlands and applies to every health insurer. Do your costs amount to more than € 385? Your health insurer will then pay the costs from the public health insurance.
You do not need to pay the excess for GP services, maternity care or for children under 18. And you do not pay an excess for care covered by the supplementary insurance.
