Health insurance Netherlands: same basic package for everyone

When it comes to health insurance in the Netherlands the basic health insurance package is stipulated by the Dutch government on an annual basis. This public healthcare insurance is the same for everyone. Only reimbursements for non-contracted care, service and the amount of the monthly premium may vary per health insurer. Each health insurer also has a choice of other supplementary insurances. If you insure yourself individually with us, you can choose an additional insurance package, only if your insurance commences before 1 Januari 2025.

Please note! If you take out a new HollandZorg public healthcare insurance that commences before 1 January 2025, you can still choose from supplementary (and/or dental) insurance. If the healthcare insurance commences after 1 January 2025, you can only take out the HollandZorg public healthcare insurance.

You can choose from:

You can also take out additional dental insurance. You can choose from 2 dental insurances:

My employer arranges my insurance plan

Does your employer arrange a health insurance Netherlands? If so, you can count on a public healthcare insurance, supplemented with special supplementary insurances. These are the No Risk I and No Risk II. This insurance covers the compulsory excess (‘eigen risico’ in Dutch). If you are insured through your employer, you will never receive an invoice for the excess. This will make your life easy! (In the Netherlands there is a compulsory excess of 385,- per year. When you incur health care costs, you normally pay up to 385 euro of the costs yourself. This is called ‘eigen risico’).

Netherlands: health insurance premiums

Would you like to know the amount of the premium per health insurance? The Netherlands has a public health system where the level of the premium varies from one insurer to another. The premium applies to every person obliged to be insured aged 18 or over.

Also care in your country of residence

With your HollandZorg policy you also insure yourself for care in your country of residence. For this purpose, you can apply for an S1/E106 form (via your employer if he or she arranges your insurance). You can use this form to go to your health insurer in your country of residence. You will then be entitled to reimbursement for medical care in your country of residence. However, this must be an EU/EEA country or Switzerland. Do you live in the Netherlands? If so, an S1/E106 form has no value abroad.

Working for an employer from your home country

Are you going to work temporarily in the Netherlands for your employer or a temporary employment agency in your home country? If so, different rules apply to you. For more information, read the leaflet 'Living and working in the Netherlands' from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.
