Eyelid correction

Eyelid correction means that the excess of skin is removed from slack or paralysed upper eyelids.

Who qualifies for reimbursement?

You are entitled to reimbursement of an eyelid correction if:

  • your vision is significantly affected as a result of paralysis or weakening of the upper eyelids
  • if the condition is caused by a congenital defect
  • if the condition is caused by a chronic disorder present at birth

    With basic insurance, you are entitled to reimbursement of an eyelid correction.

    Statutory personal contribution

    An eyelid correction is not subject to a statutory personal contribution.

    Excess

    If you are 18 or older, the costs for reimbursements by virtue of the supplementary insurance count towards your excess.

    Referral needed?

    You need a referral from a general practitioner or medical specialist for an eyelid correction.

    Who can you go to?

    Hospitals, medical specialists and eye clinics can carry out eyelid corrections.

    Prior approval needed?

    You need our written prior consent for reimbursement of an eyelid correction . When applying , you must enclose a copy of the referral from your general practitioner or a medical specialist.

    Maximum rates for a non-contracted care provider

    Have you chosen a healthcare provider with whom we have no contract? Then, we will reimburse according to our maximum rates for 2024. If the rate invoiced by the non-contracted care provider is higher than our maximum rates, you will have to pay the difference yourself. You will be able to find contracted care providers with our Care finder.
