An orthopaedic shoe is a customised shoe or inner shoe. An orthopaedic shoe corrects foot disorders or shortened legs. Adapted ready-made shoes also fall under orthopaedic shoes.

Orthopaedic shoes fall under medical aids.

Public Healthcare Insurance Reimbursement
HollandZorg public healthcare insurance
100% for contracted care, minus the statutory personal contribution.

Maximum rates non-contracted provider

If the medical aids are available from a contracted care provider in time, but you prefer to go to a non-contracted care provider, we will apply a maximum reimbursement. The non-contracted provider has to comply with the conditions set out in the Medical Aids Regulations.

A medical aid or dressing that we normally sell to you is reimbursed up to a maximum of 75% of the costs we would incur if you would have received the care from a contracted care provider. In that case, we also reimburse a maximum of 75% of any repair costs in connection with the medical aid.

Statutory personal contribution

Insured persons under the age of 16 pay a statutory personal contribution of €63,50 per pair. Are you 16 or older? Then you pay a statutory personal contribution of €127,- per pair.

There is no statutory personal contribution for orthopaedic inner shoes and orthopaedic adjustments to ready-to-wear shoes.

Excess

Are you 18 or older? The costs of orthopaedic shoes count towards the compulsory and, if applicable, voluntary excess.

Who can you go to?

Orthopaedic shoes are available from a contracted provider of medical aids. You do not need our prior consent if you go to a contracted provider. Our Care Guide helps you find a contracted provider near you.

If you go to an non-contracted provider, it must be S.E.M.H.-recognised. A request for consent must be made in writing in advance.

Apply for consent

Do you want to use a provider with whom we have not concluded an agreement? In that case, you need our prior consent. Send your prescription to:

Maximum rates for a non-contracted care provider

Have you chosen a healthcare provider with whom we have no contract? Then, we will reimburse according to our maximum rates. If the rate invoiced by the non-contracted care provider is higher than our maximum rates, you will have to pay the difference yourself. You will be able to find contracted care providers with our Care finder.
